Tips for moving during the Peak Season - A DELIGHTFUL Guide
To delight is to please greatly. For over 3 decades, it may be safe to say we have done exactly that.
Having orchestrated over a move a day in that time span, we may be best equipped to talk about the busiest time of the year for us - the Peak Moving Season.
Peak moving season occurs in the summer, with 80% of all moves occurring between April and September. The reality is that the busy moving season directly correlates to when kids are off from school. If school is out, then movers are in high demand.
The following heat map calendar below shows how much demand is expected, on average, for moving services during a peak season.
The best approach to have when moving during the heat of the summer is to book your movers as far in advance as possible, preferably months in advance. It's important to be aware that all dates, even most weekdays, will be in high demand during this time. You'll find yourself at an advantage if you schedule your movers for the days that are slightly less in demand.
But the question remains: Will this trend continue in 2019, and beyond?
Going by what the papers are saying, movers can cash in on good bargains during the peak season, after which prices are expected to stabilize. Landlords and brokers are luring movers with hard-to-resist offers that include everything from multiple cheque payment options, sizeable price reductions, rental waivers of a month or two, additional parking spaces and even Move In / Pay Later schemes. There may have been a huge drop in real estate transactions last year, but the trend is going forward and moving upward.
With EXPO 2020 also scheduled to happen in the region, the economy is set for a boost as well as the number of people moving thereby ensuring stability in the industry.
Here are the best peak season moving tips to help make your summer move as successful as possible:
- June, July, and August are the busiest of the peak months owing to children being away from school.
- The beginning and end of each month have the greatest demand.
- Morning time slots are the most desired and first to get booked up
- Weekends are the most sought-after days for moving
- Schedule at least two weeks in advance (but preferably much further in advance) to have a chance at the best available options
- Weekdays are busy but have less demand than weekends.
